About Mary Beth Percival

Mary Beth Percival lives in Missoula, Montana on the eastern fringe of the Northwest. For the last fourteen years she has supported herself as a graphic designer and illustrator in this diverse community of timber workers, environmentalists, writers and artists. She now divides her time between her artwork, and co-managing a publishing company of fine prints, posters and note cards with her artist-husband, Monte Dolack.

Mary Beth is a native of Montana, growing up in the Big Hole and Boulder valleys where her father was a ranger for the U.S. Forest Service. She attended the University of Montana and San Francisco State College, graduating from the U. of M. with a B.A. in Fine Art. Since then she has participated in numerous painting workshops and has traveled frequently to major cities in the United States, Mexico, and Europe where she has conducted intensive visits to museums and galleries.

Percival is best known for her watercolor paintings, many of which show a strong bond to the country where she grew up. She chooses intimate views of that big country, scenes that are experienced by lingering near streams and riverbanks and exploring trails that beckon into hidden mountain worlds. Her paintings celebrate simple pleasures of daily life - sun streaming through a window on a bunch of spring pussy willows or the gathering of a fresh wash from the clothesline.

Mary Beth has shown her work in many juried and invitational shows. She is primarily represented by the Monte Dolack Gallery in Missoula. Her images are now available as posters and art cards/note cards, published by Monte Dolack Graphics.
